Yeah. Can move fingers of right hand!
If you don’t want to
find yrself a crumpled pile on the floor,
have agonizing ambulance drive,
worse xrays of right arm,
scary pic of separated twisted bones,
and no control of right hand,
2-3 hr surgery,
4 days in hospital,
thousands of dollars in medical expenses (TG for insurance),
then don’t. just because you are buoyed by a shiny new idea at 10:30 am on a sunny Monday morning,
bounce down a flight of four, yes, four steps in your own house to celebrate with coffee
and miss the last step.
WATCH YOUR FEET.
Thanks for so much support over the past week. You can have no idea how much it helped and cheered me. I’m slowly getting back some energy and wiggling those fingers so it could have been much, much worse. Wonderful doctor, household help, and most of all the best of husbands (a bit worn himself right now, thanks to my caper) have been terrific. Unlikely to be able to write or type with right hand for eight weeks to six months depending on damage to nerve which I won’t know for another two weeks.
Plan.
1. Priority to final book revisions and other pending work
2. Learn to write/type left handed, voice recognition software, tips welcome.
3. Communicate by Skype or Google phone or landline. Send mail or message if you need address/numbers. No chat for obvious reasons.
4. Scan FB & Twitter but post little
5. Experiment with 3-4 sentence assertive blogs. May not work but fun. Read all comments though replying may be difficult.
This will be the longest post for a while! And thanks again.

Rachel,
Am sending you a card today. Thinking lots about you, hoping you’re not in too much pain and agony. I think that the pain of broken bones is right up there with the pain of kidney stones and childbirth. I suspect, from what you’re saying, that you’re right-handed. Very sorry it happened to the dominant arm. be sure to locate a good physical therapist — that’s how I got just about all my mobility back in my left wrist after my fall in Africa. Funny how easily we can do damage to ourselves and how long it takes to repair … So be careful, think and ponder much, and we’ll be wishing for your speedy recovery.
Cindy
Glad to hear you’re doing better. I haven’t used it but I’ve heard very good things about a voice recognition software called Dragon. Here’s their website:

Rachel,
You are most definitely an optimist: this will certainly help you heal faster and solve those logistical problems during the next 6 months. Hoping that you heal well. Stay strong.
Jane
Rachel,
Happy to hear you are up and working, however slowly. That sounds like a great plan of action! Take care, my friend.

Oh my gosh, Rachel! I’m so glad this is all you suffered, that the rest of you is intact! I’m also glad you have insurance and a loving husband and live in a city with good medical care.
I’m sending you (virtual) hugs, cookies, flowers, soup. Let me know what else you need. :)
Kathleen
Good grief, Rachel!
Get better soon.
(We live in a single level house, but that wasn’t the main attraction.)
Saludos,

Rachel … have had you on my mind daily since hearing your very frightening news. Sorry that you were hurt, but so glad that it was not any worse (what you have described is bad enough). Wishing you a rapid, complete recovery, hoping that the pain will go soon, and you will be as good as new very soon.
Very best regards,
Sharon
BTW – really looking forward to your book!

So sorry to hear this, Rachel. I hope that you heal well and fast.
Rachel, you are such a joy filled soul- I know that you are weathering this ‘storm’ with aplomb and a hopeful attitude- that will get you through the tough bits! BUT, also take the moments to read and truly ken the affection and support that so many are sending your way in this world, digital and otherwise. The positive you send out every day is flowing your way now, and taking an emotive swim in the waters of affection will do naught but good for you. I am sending light and affection your way- for a swift and complete recovery!
