The Guanajuato Livestock Fair (Expigua)
I’m a sucker for agricultural fairs. And on Friday I had a stupendous afternoon at the State Livestock Fair in Irapuato, about a forty minute drive from where I live. It yielded lots of cheese and lots of ideas about safety, organic foods and the like that I will blog about over the next few weeks.
But just because immersing oneself in another world is such fun, here are some highlights.
A new state of the art exhibition center.

Black legged Suffolks and Hampshires, snub nosed Texels, Roman nosed Charolais and Romanovs, and splendidly horned Rambouillets, here being prepared for competition.

Tequila Real de PĂ©njamo and Tequila Corralejo are both great places to visit and learn how they make Tequila. On top of that, the Tequila Corralejo plant is very close to Corralejo Hidalgo where Padre Miguel Hidalgo, the father of Mexican Independence was born. Tequila Corralejo also has a very beautiful web site in both English and Spanish at:

Agreed Bob. Makes a great outing from our part of the world. And go to the pyramids too. And to the goat cheese center of Mexico, of which more soon.
