Of course any history worth its salt begins with and comes back to current problems. So there are also articles that explain my take on food politics using my historical perspective. My first venture into food history was in Hawaii which has one of the most fascinating food cultures in the world--a veritable Galapagos for the study of how cuisines change. Before I turned to food history I worked on the history of science and technology so I'm including some of that work too. I now live in Mexico. Who could not be fascinated by Mexican food? Some of what I have written overlaps with my general research in culinary history, some goes off on different tacks. Finally, I have a few postings on aspects of life in Guanajuato, Mexico.
